“Russia is always supporting and welcoming any effort aimed at preventing the tragedy that is currently unfolding (in Gaza),” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told a briefing at the press conference in response to questions about Trump’s Gaza plan.
“We hope that this plan will be implemented, and that it will help lead events in the Middle East to a peaceful course,” Peskov said, with Russia ready to maintain contact with all parties in the conflict and promote peaceful reconciliation where necessary, reported by the Aanadolu Agency (AA).
He denied participation in the Russian plan itself, saying that Moscow had received nothing from Washington in this regard.
On Monday, Trump outlined key points in his Gaza ceasefire plan at a joint press conference with Washington, D.C. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
The 20-point plan includes the release of all Israeli prisoners in exchange for the formation of a technocratic Palestinian commission that temporarily governs many Palestinian prisoners, Hamas disarmament of Palestinian groups, and other provisions.
