A brief dispatch by Russian state-run news agency Tass reported that Russian Security Council chief Sergei Shuigu was scheduled to arrive in Pyongyang, the capital of North Korea, and meet North Korean officials, including Kim. According to the AP, they did not give any further details, including what Shoigu would discuss with Kim.
North Korea’s official South Korea Central News Agency confirmed the arrival of a Russian delegation led by Shoigu, but did not provide details on the purpose of the visit.
Shuig’s visit came after Ukraine and Russia generally agreed to a limited ceasefire after President Donald Trump spoke with the country’s leaders on Wednesday, but remained seen when it could take effect and restrictions for attacks could be turned off.
In late February, South Korean spy agencies said it appears that North Korea had sent additional troops to Russia. South Korean media has brought the number of newly sent North Korean soldiers to about 1,000-3,000, the report added.
