According to Reuters, the ministry said four settlements in the Donetsk region, the center of Russia’s westward expansion, are now under its control, including Yanpil, east of the Ukrainian-controlled city of Sloviask.
Ukraine announced Thursday that Yanpil remains under its control despite Russia’s infiltration attempts.
Russian military chief of staff Valery Gerasimov announced Thursday that Russian forces had captured the largely destroyed city of Kupiansk, a charge Ukraine denied.
On Friday, Kiev said Russian forces had launched six attacks on Kupiansk, but said nothing about regime change.
