Tehran – The Russian state Dumas, the House of Representatives of Parliament, ratifies the treaty on comprehensive strategic partnerships with Iran, telling a key step in the deep relationship between Moscow and Tehran.
The ratification will establish a long-term agreement aimed at promoting cooperation in a wide range of areas, from defense and security to economics and culture.
Russian President Vladimir Putin submitted a ratification treaty in March and was signed in January when Iranian President Masuud Pezeshkian visited Moscow. The treaty establishes a legal framework aimed at officially designating Russia and Iran as strategic partners and guiding the long-term development of the relationship.
The agreement includes many sectors, including defense cooperation, combating terrorism, energy sector cooperation, financial integration, transportation infrastructure development, industrial cooperation, agricultural partnerships, cultural, science and technology exchanges.
Vyakeslav Voldin, chairman of the state Dumas, emphasized the importance of the treaty in strengthening bilateral cooperation and coordination on international issues. He also emphasized a concrete focus on strengthening the relationship of interaction, both within the international parliamentary organization and through existing committees on cooperation between state territories and Iran’s Islamic Council.
The treaty is based on a history of strategic cooperation between Iran and Russia. This is seen as an upgrade and expansion of their strategic partnership.
