Tehran – Iran will start tomorrow with Casarex 2025, a three-day multinational naval search and rescue exercise in the Caspian Sea.
The exercise will bring together navys from Iran’s Islamic Republic and the Russian Federation, and observers from other coastal Caspian countries will also be present.
The combined SEA Search and Rescue Movement (Casarex 2025) is organized under a banner “Together for the Safe and Secure Caspian Sea” and is hosted by the North Fleet of the Iranian Army Navy. The drill is intended to simulate complex maritime emergency scenarios and test the preparation and coordination of the capabilities to participate in disaster response and rescue operations.
The Navy of Iran’s Army Navy, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard (IRGC) Navy, and the Law Enforcement Command of Iran’s Islamic Republic will take part in the exercise along with Russian Navy ships and personnel.
The main goal of Casarex 2025 is to enhance local maritime security, promote mutual trust among Caspian Sea neighbours, and increase naval interoperability. The exercise also reflects on continuing efforts to deepen inter-military cooperation between Iran and Russia in the strategically important Caspian region.
