TEHRAN – Ali Shamkani, the political advisor to the leader of the Islamic Revolution, highlighted Tehran’s preparations to formalize the nuclear deal if Washington deals with the “Bibi Effect,” and in an interview with NBC News, he realized the public roadmap for US-Iran reconciliation.
Shamhani, once secretary to Iran’s highest national security council, is linked to practical concessions and sharp criticism of US policies, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described it as a key obstacle to progress, also known as Bibi.
“If Americans remove the BIBI effect, they can easily sign the deal,” Shamhani said in his interview broadcast on Thursday, referring to Netanyahu’s longstanding opposition to US-Iran’s involvement.
Hours after the interview was released, US President Donald Trump shared an interview about the True Society, amplifying Iranian authorities’ proposals and fostering speculation about political climate change in Washington.
Shamkhani outlined the possible Quid Pro Quo. “Tehran will forever abandon its nuclear weapons, dismantle highly enriched uranium stockpiles, limit enrichment to civilian grade levels, and submit to strict international testing.”
In exchange he demanded “immediate lifting of all sanctions.” When asked if Iran would ink on such a transaction today, Shamhani replied with a definitive “yes.”
“If Americans act as they say, that’s still possible (to improve relationships),” Shamhani added, but he criticized Trump’s tone and simultaneous threat to Iran.
“He’s talking about olive branches that we’ve never seen before. It’s all barbed wire,” the official said, referring to Trump’s recent remarks in a speech in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Shamhani took a reconciliatory tone on diplomacy, but he was alongside President Masuud Pezeshkian’s rebellion against US pressure.
Earlier on Wednesday, Pezeschkian dismissed Trump’s threat and declared that he “will not succumb to bullies.”
