Activists from Brazilian port city Santos held a sit-in on Friday urging authorities to halt steel cargo to Israel due to potential use in the military industry.
The protest, organized at the invitation of a “Campaign to Support Palestine,” attracted local Palestinian activists and supporters in front of both the city council building and the port of Santos.
With slogans such as “Steel for peace, not war” and “Stop the Gaza Massacre,” demonstrators urged local authorities to stop the shipment of Israeli-bound steel. They stressed that these strategic materials could be diverted into Israeli military industry and promote ongoing conflict in Gaza.
Santos demonstrations are part of a wide range of global campaigns that put pressure on businesses and institutions to reduce economic ties with Israel, highlighting concerns over the role of commercial goods in conflict.
