TEHRAN – Saudi Deputy Foreign Minister Saud bin Mohammed al-Satti arrived in Tehran on Sunday for talks with senior Iranian officials.
He was received at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in the morning.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the two officials discussed the current status of Iran-Saudi relations and explored ways to expand bilateral cooperation across areas of common interest. The conference also touched on key regional and international trends.
Araghchi condemned the ongoing genocide and crimes committed by the Israeli regime in occupied Palestine, noting that the expansion of Israeli military operations in Lebanon and Syria poses “the most serious threat to regional and international peace and security.” He called for stronger cooperation between regional and Islamic countries to curb Israel’s “warmongering and violations of international law.”
Mr. Al-Sati emphasized Saudi Arabia’s position that close cooperation among regional countries is essential to maintaining peace and stability in the Middle East.
After meeting with the foreign minister, Saudi Arabia’s deputy foreign minister also met with Iran’s special envoy for Syria, Mohammadreza Rauf Sheibani, to continue discussions on regional issues.
Recently, Tehran and Riyadh have been holding talks to further strengthen mutual relations.
In early November 2025, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi met with Saudi Arabia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Abdulrahman Al Rassi in Riyadh.
Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for International and Legal Affairs underlined the strategic importance of the new relationship with Saudi Arabia, saying that the growing friendship between Tehran and Riyadh is not only beneficial for the two countries, but also a powerful force for regional stability and world peace.
Gharibabadi made the remarks on XPost after a visit to Saudi Arabia aimed at deepening cooperation and coordination between the two major powers in the region.
He stressed that Iran and Saudi Arabia are bound by many common interests and mutual respect, and are well-positioned to serve the common interests of their peoples and promote regional peace.
Mr. Ghalibabadi detailed his meeting with Saudi Arabia’s Deputy Foreign Minister for International Affairs Abdulrahman Al Rassi.
He said discussions focused on strengthening cooperation within international, regional and multilateral organizations, and advancing key areas such as human rights and legal and judicial cooperation.
Officials also exchanged views on strengthening the vital role of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
Ghalibabadi said he stressed the need for the OIC to play a stronger role in addressing important issues, including condemning the crimes of the Israeli occupation in Gaza and aggression in the region, while increasing cooperation among member states.
Iranian officials expressed optimism about the future trajectory of Tehran-Riyadh relations and said they hoped for accelerated progress.
Iran and Saudi Arabia normalized diplomatic relations under a Chinese-brokered agreement signed in Beijing in March 2023, which stipulated that they would resume full diplomatic relations within two months, including reopening their embassies.
