“The number of wars was at least 600. However, based on updated ratings, it is estimated at around 2,000,” MP Lee Sung Kwen told reporters after a briefing from the spy agency.
“Of the third deployment plan of the recent 6,000-man squadron, around 1,000 combat engineers are rated as having arrived in Russia,” MP Lee claimed, NDTV reported.
Earlier this year, Moscow’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said the north would send builders and strata to the Kursk region.
North Korea confirmed in April that it had deployed its troops to support the Russian war in Ukraine, and admitted that its soldiers had been killed in the battle.
Since then, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has met with the families of soldiers who are killing Russia’s battle with Ukraine, expressing their sadness at their “extreme pain.”
State media carried out an emotional image of Kim embracing the returned soldier who seemed overwhelmed, burying his face in the leader’s chest.
The leader also saw him kneel down in front of a fallen soldier portrait and place medals and flowers next to the image of the dead.
Russia and North Korea signed a military contract that includes mutual defense clauses during Russian President Vladimir Putin’s rare visit to North Korea.
