TEHRAN – Seven Iranian films will be included in the 12th International Children’s and Family Film Festival “Zero Plus”, which is being held in Siberia, Russia.
Iranian films include the feature film “Snowy Summer” directed by Setayesh Sasani Nejad, the short film “Being Ten” directed by Fatemeh Jafari, and “Tomorrow Is Not Like” directed by Seyyed Mahdi Kalbashi. Today’, ‘Memory’ directed by Fereshte (Sonya) Fardipour, ‘Eraser’ directed by Mohammad Hassan Emadi, ‘Silently’ and ‘Playground’ directed by Sahar Mahmoudi. The 2025 film “Snowy Summer” tells the story of a boy with Down syndrome who loses his family. He attempts to escape from a private boarding school for special children to start a new life.
Produced in 2023, Being Ten is an animated short story about a father and his 10-year-old son who live in a secluded house deep in the woods. The hunter’s father decided not to let one of his prey escape, but to take it home as a gift to his son. What at first seems like just a toy ends up changing a young boy’s life forever.
In Tomorrow Is Not Like Today, which was created in 2024, Hossein and Reza are best friends who are fifth grade students at Isar State Elementary School. Hossein’s joy at scoring a goal during gym class sparks a strange conflict between Reza and his teacher, Mr. Ahmadi, but the story turns out to be more complicated than just an argument.
The 2024 short film “Memory” tells the story of Saeed, a 10-year-old boy who one day gets into a lot of trouble because of a lie.
The 2025 piece “Eraser” depicts Sohrab, a hooligan, bullying other students. An accident happens in class and he is blamed, but this time it turns out that he is the main character and the savior of the situation, and in the end he changes his mind and becomes a decent person.
“Silently” is a 2025 film about Aisan, a deaf boy who has lived a stressful and sad life. At school, he is blamed and becomes the victim of the incident, but he does not speak up or defend himself out of fear for Ash’s family.
The 2022 animated short “Playground” follows a bored girl, exhausted by her illness and monotonous hospital stay, until one day she receives a special toy.
The International Children’s and Family Film Festival “Zero Plus” aims to promote and disseminate high-quality films that foster a positive, creative and formative worldview in children and young people and strengthen common human values such as love of family, childhood, friendship, kindness, nature and profession.
We also aim to integrate film and education by creating a value-oriented film collection for educational screenings in Russian schools and social institutions.
The 12th International Film Festival “Zero Plus” will open on October 5th and close on October 27th.
