Al Jazeera reported that two oil tankers collided at the Strait of Hormuz, the most important oil checkpoint off the coast of Iran.
British maritime security monitor Ambey said the clash between Addalin and Front Eagle on Tuesday was “not security-related,” despite concerns over the accident and impact of the raging war between Israel and Iran.
Shipping company Frontline said the fire had gone out at a 15 nautical miles (28km) Front Eagle tanker off the UAE’s Gulf of Oman. It added that no contamination was detected.
The UAE Coast Guard said it had evacuated 24 people from the adalin oil tanker.
The front eagle was loaded with 2 million barrels of Iraqi crude oil, and was on its way to Zhoushan, China, according to surveillance service TankerTrackers.com.
Adalynn, a Suezmax class tanker owned by India-based Global Shipping Holding Ltd, was sailing towards Egypt’s Suez Canal without cargo, the Surveillance Service said.
