Speaking during a meeting with Minister of Science, Research and Technology Hossein Simae Salaf on the sidelines of UNESCO’s 43rd General Assembly in Samarkand, Mr. Pellegrini said that the successful official visit to Iran in 2016 was a positive experience.
Referring to current international and geopolitical tensions, he called Iran a large, important and strategic country.
He stressed that it is essential to foster diplomatic relations with all countries, adding that the focus should not be solely on Western countries.
Simaiy Saraf provided an overview of the main themes of the UNESCO conference, including higher education in emergencies, technological ethics and skills development.
He expressed confidence that the Islamic Republic has significant expertise and achievements that can be shared at these specialized meetings.
The 43rd UNESCO General Assembly will be held in Samarkand, Uzbekistan from October 30 to November 13, 2025.
