Amir Roshambaksh Kambali, deputy director of international business promotion at Iranian trade promotion organizations, said the snapback mechanism would not affect Iran’s free trade relations with the Eurasian Economic Union, and announced that measures have been developed to maintain trade relations with international partners after its implementation.
He told Mehr news agency that there is no expectation of any major changes in Iran’s free trade with Eurasia or Pakistan, and the country’s division over compliance with certain decisions has weakened Snapback’s impact.
Roshanbakhsh Qanbari added that the organisation has devised a strategy to minimize potential damage to Iran’s priority and other trade agreements, particularly in commodity trade, with the aim of continuing the highest level of commodity exchange.
Explaining the nature of preferred trade, he balances trade through tariff adjustments, adding that “they may lower tariffs in some countries, raise for others, or even impose higher tariffs on third countries to restore the desired balance.”
He concluded that trade promotion organisations have multiple tools in place to manage these challenges and continue to pursue their goal of maintaining and expanding Iran’s international trade relations.
