Tehran – Shiraz University and St. Petersburg University are conducting 10 joint research projects.
To date, two groups of students have been sent to Russia, and Russian students are scheduled to take educational courses at Shiraz in the spring.
Officials went on to say that the two universities have also launched a joint group of artificial intelligence experts.
In July 2024, Shiraz University and the University of St. Petersburg signed 12 memorandums of understanding (Mous) to support cultural, educational and research collaborations.
The main subjects of Mous included strengthening cooperation between faculty members of the two universities, scholarships to 10 doctoral students, a summer school for Iranian students by the University of St. Petersburg, and a winter school for Russian students by Shiraz University.
As part of the agreement, each university will establish specialized centres within other institutions.
The collaboration will include using the University of St. Petersburg’s University’s excavation training and research centre, conducting joint research, holding joint professional geological training courses for students from two universities, and St. Petersburg University of Mining for Iranian mining engineers.
According to ForPost-SZ, a delegation from the St. Petersburg University of Mining visited Shiraz University for the first time in January.
Iran’s Russian university has promised to broaden relations
Based on a comprehensive agreement between Iran and top universities in Russia, the two are committed to promoting long-term and constructive relationships in higher education, technology and innovation.
Establishing a secretariat for communication between universities in the two countries is one of the major measures taken. Collaboration between the secretariat and the university should be more active than in the past in deepening scientific communication. It is expected that practical and effective measures will be taken to achieve a common goal.
In addition to fostering relationships, the main objective is to implement previously created agreements and open new opportunities for further cooperation. Therefore, the comprehensive Iran-Russia agreement opens grounds for implementing joint science and technology projects, promoting interactions between educational institutions, and strengthening scientific cooperation through the exchange of faculty, staff and students.
The contracting parties will promote the distribution of experience and information regarding scientific, technical and innovative activities, as well as regulatory activities in the areas of holding and holding conferences, conferences, seminars, exhibitions and other scientific events.
Furthermore, the agreement suggests that both parties will promote and promote learning of official languages and the study of the literature, history and culture of others in higher education institutions.
