At a meeting on local economic diplomacy held in Shiraz, southern Iran, Abbas Aragci said Thursday that diplomacy has two basic principles. He said Iran has long been obsessed with the former, but the latter involves the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which promotes commercial opportunities rather than directly engaged in trade.
Araqchi reaffirmed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ role in lifting sanctions, saying that Iranian diplomats and ambassadors stationed overseas should actively support businesses in finding alternative, unlicensed trade channels. He emphasized that these efforts are important in neutralizing the effects of economic restrictions.
The US once claimed it would cripple Iran’s economy, Arakich said. “Today they acknowledge that there is no sanction left to impose, but they have failed to discourage Iranian people.”
