Sergei Shog made a statement during a meeting with Iranian counterpart Ali Akbar Ahmadian in Moscow.
He also said that Tehran-Moscow relations are actively developing in all areas, according to PressTV.
Regular contact between the leaders of both countries indicates “a high level of political dialogue between Russia and Iran,” he added.
Shoigu further mentioned the agreement signed by Iran and Russia on a comprehensive strategic partnership, saying the 20-year contract provides a legal basis for developing political, security, economic, cultural and social ties between the two countries.
The Ahmadian emphasized that the implementation of the bilateral agreement will significantly increase the amount of economic exchanges in Tehran Moscow.
Meanwhile, the finest security authorities of Iran and Russia called for strengthening cooperation between the two countries in regional and international sectors.
Iran and Russia have both been subject to illegal Western sanctions and have deepened relations in various regions over the past few years.
Iranian President Maud Pezeshkian and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin signed the Strategic Partnership Treaty at a ceremony in the Kremlin on January 17th.
On April 21, Putin officially ratified the Landmark Agreement. A month later, the Iranian parliament approved the agreement, which includes defence cooperation, fighting terrorism, cooperation in the energy and industrial sectors, financial integration, transportation infrastructure development, agricultural partnerships, and exchanges in the fields of culture, science and technology.
