RSF and Allied Militias launched an attack in Elfasher, the capital of the North Darfur province on Sunday, according to the Resistance Committee, an activist group. The war-tracking group reported by the Associated Press said dozens of other people were injured in the attack.
The RSF renewed the attack on Monday, bombarding home construction and open markets in the city, the group said. There were no immediate comments from RSF.
Khartoum, more than 800 kilometers (500 miles) southwest of the capital, is Elfasher, under the control of the army that has fought against the RSF since Sudan descended into the civil war more than two years ago.
The RSF is about to seize EL-Fasher for a year to complete control over the entire Darfur region.
The violence on Sunday occurred less than a week after the RSF and its allied militia and camps of Zamzam and Abu Shuk killed more than 400 people, according to the United Nations.
Last week’s attack forced up to 400,000 people to flee Sudan’s largest camp.
