According to local police, the group explosion occurred after walking into a mosque in northwestern Pakistan’s Protaliban Theological Seminary on Friday, followed by a mosque in northwestern Pakistan’s Protaliban Theological Seminary in northwestern Pakistan.
The explosion occurred in Akola Hatak, a district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, district police chief Abdul Rashid said. He named Hamidur Hak. Hamidur Hak has named him the head of the faction of the Jamiat e Mooma Islam (JUI) party. The group reported by the AP does not immediately assert responsibility.
Haq is the son of Maurana Samurhak, known as the “Taliban Father,” who was killed in a knife attack at his home in 2018.
Haq’s family confirmed he was killed in Friday’s attack and appealed to his followers to maintain peace. He also worked at the Jamia Hackania Seminary, where many Afghan Talibans had studied over the past 20 years.
State Police Chief Zulfikar Hamed said more than dozens of police officers were guarding the mosque when the attack occurred, and the HAQ seminary also had its own safety.
Pakistani Prime Minister Shebaz Sharif condemned the attack. It came before the Holy Month of Muslims in Ramadan.
Yawal Zia, a police officer injured in the attack, said he was in security duties at the seminary when the attack occurred and shrapnel from the bomb struck him. He was taken by ambulance to Kazi Hussein Ahmed Hospital.
“After praying, Hamidur Hak left the mosque to return home, and when I reached the main gate, a powerful explosion occurred, which caused me to fall to the ground and unconscious,” Zia said from her hospital bed.
