Tehran – In close cooperation with the Iranian Ministry of Cultural Heritage, a Handicraft Exhibition was held in Suleimaniya, Iraq, supported by the Kermansha Cultural Heritage Division.
The exhibition was attended by 130 artisans from 31 Iranian provinces at 100 food stalls from May 21st to 24th. According to Mohammad Jourand, director of Cultural Heritage, Khuzestan.
He explained that two Huzestani artisans, namely Maryam Takhtaeepour (Kapubafi) and Hadis Baqerianzadeh (the field of turquoise sculpture), participated in the four-day event.
Also, caretakers of Mohsen Ziai of the Fars Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts Bureau said Suleimaniya Fair has introduced Fars Handycraft and is a good opportunity to find a new market for Fars artisans.
He added that the Fars artisans launched six food stalls and took part in the event by showing off seven colours of tiles, paintings, katams and the art of aberdaving.
Meanwhile, Abbas Hami, deputy director of the Lorestan Handicrafts Bureau, announced the strong presence of Lorestan artisans at the Suleimaniyah exhibition.
He said Qalb-e Zagros, a non-governmental organisation representing artisans in Laurestan, exhibited artwork by 20 artisans.
Hamzeie explained that the visitors were welcomed by the Lorestan Pavilion, featuring a variety of artistic achievements, including Kilim Weaving, turquoise sculptures, intricate pieces of enamel, traditional musical instruments, leather goods and local attire.
Additionally, a cultural carnival featuring Iranian clans and artisans was held on the sidelines of the exhibition.
