Tehran – The bond of affection and sympathy between Iran and Tajikistan is now at its highest level, said Zohidi nizomiddin shamsiddinzoda, Iranian ambassador to Tajikistan.
He told CHTN that a new season began with mutual bonds after Iranian President Masuud Pezeshkian visited Dushanbe.
Emphasizing the depth of historical and cultural ties between the two countries, the ambassador said Tehran-Duchampbe’s connections are rooted in shared history and cultural heritage.
From the distant past to the present, these relationships continue, adding, “currently, “We are taking measures in line with the development of cultural, economic and social cooperation.”
He recalled that Iran was one of the first countries to recognize Tajikistan’s independence. “It is a matter of pride for us that the first foreign ambassador to present his qualification in Dushanbe was representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran.”
The ambassador also said relations between the presidents of both countries are increasing, and official travel by senior officials from both countries is increasing.
He said that Iranian cultural week was held in Tajikistan and the vice versa was a valuable event to deepen cultural relations.
The ambassador called for the exemption from the 30-day visa requirement between the two countries as another important achievement that played a major role in mitigating tourism-people interactions.
Pointing to the enthusiasm of Iranian people to travel to Tajikistan on the holiday of Nowruz 1404, he said, “A huge number of Iranian tourists were our guests this year. This is a bright indication of the cultural and historical solidarity of the two countries.”
Last March, Memories of Multinational Knowles took place at the UNESCO World Heritage Site in Persepolis, bringing together ambassadors from Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Tajikistan to celebrate the Ancient Persian New Year.
A centuries-old tradition that marks the arrival of spring, Knowles is recognized by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage jointly registered by Iran, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and several other countries. The festival represents renewal, unity and cultural exchange between countries that share this rich heritage.
During the event, diplomats and cultural representatives highlighted the importance of Nowruz in fostering local ties and preserving shared traditions. The celebration featured traditional music and performances as well as cultural exhibits introducing the diverse customs of participating countries.
The annual Nowruz celebration continues to serve as a bridge between nations, underscoring the importance of cultural heritage in promoting peace and mutual understanding.
