Iraq’s Deputy Energy Prime Minister and Minister of Oil Hayan Abdul Ghani Al Sawad met with Iran’s Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad in Baghdad on Monday to hold talks. During the meeting, the outlook for joint cooperation between the two countries was discussed.
The Iraq and Iran side held a prominent meeting where mechanisms for cooperation between the two countries in various sectors were discussed. The Memorandum of Understanding (Mous) and contracts were signed in the field of expertise exchange and joint cooperation, contributing to the interests of both countries.
The Iraqi minister noted that his country has a promising gas investment project and is working to achieve self-sufficiency in oil derivatives.
Iran’s oil minister, on his part, expressed his gratitude to Parknejad for his warm welcome, his visit to Iraq and for his deep cultural relations between the two countries.
The Iranian minister added the importance of continuing relations between the two countries in all areas.
Iran’s oil minister Mohsen Paknejad arrived in Baghdad on Monday to strengthen the joint energy initiative and secure a new agreement in the oil and gas sector.
Paknejad was invited by his Iraqi counterpart to discuss expanded collaborations in several energy-related areas.
