TEHRAN – A large number of citizens and Iranian officials gathered on Thursday to commemorate the one-year anniversary of the tragic deaths of former Iranian president Ebrahim Raisi and his companions, who lost their lives in the helicopter crash last year.
The memorial ceremony held at Imam Hussein Square attracted participants from across the social spectrum. The event honored the memories of former President Raisi, former Minister Hossein Amir Abdrahian, the late Ayatollah Yer Hashem, Malek Ramati, Commander Ilgen Mehdi Musavi, Mosen Daryanush and Teyed Taher who hit the clash between Murakhvavaa.
The ceremony began with a reading of a poem from the Holy Qur’an, followed by the national anthem of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Participants hugged Iranian flags and photographs of leaders of the Islamic Revolution, chanted Ali Khamenei, martian Reshi and other fallen officials, chanting slogans such as “Death to America” and “Death to Israel.”
Speaking with reporters at the event, Mohammad Mokbah, a senior adviser to the leader of the Islamic Revolution, praised Raisi’s legacy. “The martian Reishi deeply internalized the qualities of Imam Khomeini and the leader of the revolution. These principles shaped his path and he followed without one deviation,” he said.
In his keynote address, Major General Hossein Salami, commander-in-chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), welcomed Raisi’s sacrifice. “He embraced the difficulties of leadership, raised our country, took pride in Iran and put his life at risk to maintain the light of Islam. His journey ended with tragedy, but he rose to eternal honor,” Salami said.
Brigadier General Esmail Qaani, commander of the IRGC Quds squad, also attended the ceremony.
