In a statement on Saturday, Alileza Hashemi Raja, director of Iran’s foreign ministry’s Iranian expatriates, described the move as clear evidence of the domination of the “supremist and racist” thinking among American policymakers.
“The US administration’s decision to limit Iranian citizens based solely on their religion and nationality shows deep hostility from US decision-makers towards Iranian people and Muslims, but also violates basic principles of international law, including prohibiting discrimination and compliance with basic human rights.
Hashemi Raja reiterated that denying hundreds of millions of people is an act of racism and systematic racism due to the establishment of US domination.
He also called on the UN and human rights groups to openly oppose the United Nations and human rights groups, saying that Iran’s Islamic Republic will take all necessary steps to protect citizens’ rights from the effects of this discriminatory decision.
On Wednesday, Trump issued a wipe-off order enforceing a full travel ban on citizens from 12 countries, imposing restrictions on travelers from seven more countries.
Countries banned include Afghanistan, Chad, Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Myanmar, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen.
The entry of people from the other seven countries, namely Burundi, Cuba, Laos, Sierra Leone, Togo, Turkmenistan and Venezuela, is partially limited.
The US head of state also said it could revise the list and add new countries.
