In an interview with Qatar-based Al-Arabian television network, Iranian envoy highlighted Iran’s unwavering commitment to maintain good neighbourhood policies and broadening brotherhood relationships with neighboring states, particularly Qatar.
He emphasized that Iran and Qatar’s relationship is a model of coordination and understanding among regional challenges.
“We exchanged positions with Qatar through direct contact between officials from both countries,” he said, adding that both Qatar and Iranian officials have expressed their desire to contain the escalation of tensions.
Tehran and Doha are determined to take joint action and work together to maintain stability, Salhabadi noted.
He went on to say that Iran is grateful for Qatar’s constructive role in promoting regional cooperation.
“We express our appreciation for Qatar’s constructive role in fostering regional cooperation. We emphasize our full respect for Qatar’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Our actions are defensive without targeting third parties and have been explained with a clear reference to Iran’s retaliatory strike at Al earsid Airbase based on Qatari, depending on the cause of the attack.
Salhabadi further noted that his country is ready to expand bilateral cooperation with neighboring Qatar in line with the interests of both countries.
