Tehran – Iran’s first professional film music orchestra will perform iconic soundtracks of world-famous films and series.
The Tehran Film and Music Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Abdolretsa Amilkani, held its first official concert at Vadat Hall in Tehran on Thursday, reporting it had performed works from the history of the film.
The orchestra is established with the aim of popularizing polyphonic music in a symphonic structure among the public, and presents soundtracks to famous films such as “The Lord of the Rings”, “Interstellar”, “The Godfather”, and “Cinema Paradiso”. Animation “Spirit: Cimarron Stallion”, series “Game of Thrones” and “Michel Strogoff.”
“We are trying to introduce the public to a higher level of music. Because of the connection with visual images, film music is more accessible and understandable to a general audience compared to purely symphonies. That’s why we chose a nostalgic, melodic, beautiful piece.”
In front of the official facility, the orchestra has been operating since 2013 under the name “Tehran Fuabiata Orchestra and Choir.” We performed concerts in various genres at the Tehran venue. Notable events include a concert at Milad Tower in 2015 and a joint Iranian-Australia performance at Roudaki Hall in 2020.
Ultimately, after Amirkani focused on film music, the orchestra dedicated film music in October 2024 as Iran’s first dedicated symphony orchestra.
