TEHRAN – The 6th Iran Smart City Exhibition and Conference will open tomorrow in Tehran and conclude on Friday.
The event, themed on smart cities and artificial intelligence in Iran, will be held on the occasion of World Cities Day, with the aim of promoting innovation, developing smart city infrastructure, and sharing experiences between science, industry and business sectors, IRNA reported.
In the exhibition section, a range of companies, associations, municipalities and technology institutions are showcasing their latest products, designs and achievements in areas related to smart cities and artificial intelligence.
It will focus on smart urban management systems and public services, data infrastructure, Internet of Things and big data analytics, smart transportation and clean energy, and new technologies in education, health, and urban environments.
The conference is hosted by the Iranian Institute of Information Science and Technology, known as Irandoc.
The conference will include a series of expert panels, scientific conferences, and policy discussions exploring the latest achievements and challenges in the fields of smart cities, urban data, artificial intelligence, and digital governance. Professors, managers, and technology experts share their thoughts.
Key themes of the conference include the role of data in smart governance and urban decision-making, ethics and justice in the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in urban management, the role of AI in urban sustainability, and national capacity building for future smart cities.
Domestic and international scholars, practitioners, city managers, businesspeople, academics, experts, and even knowledge-based companies will gather to share experiences and knowledge and accelerate the transformation to smart cities.
The conference will also provide an opportunity to showcase the latest achievements, scientific discoveries, technologies, methods and tools for implementing smart city projects.
The highlight of this year’s conference is the “Iran Smart City National Award”, which aims to identify, evaluate and recognize the best designs and projects in smart cities. It will be released immediately after the exhibition ends.

World Cities Day was held in Tehran with the theme of smart cities, sustainable innovation, green buildings and a bright future.
The event was held both in-person and online, bringing together relevant government agencies, academic and professional institutions, the private sector, young innovators, city managers, students, and stakeholders.
According to the UN Settlement of Iran website, sharing expertise, showcasing innovative urban projects, and discussing the challenges and opportunities of sustainable urban development in the country and around the world were among the main parts of the event.

World Cities Day is celebrated on October 31st every year and marks the end of October for cities. First celebrated in 2014, the day is hosted by a different city each year with global observances focused on a specific theme.
The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) proclaimed this day to raise awareness of global urbanization and encourage cooperation among countries to address urbanization challenges and contribute to sustainable urban development around the world.
The 2025 World Cities Day global event was held in Bogota, Colombia, with the theme of human-centered smart cities.

Finally, by raising global awareness of the role of technology and innovation in improving access to adequate housing and achieving urban development, its goal is to foster and foster international cooperation and cooperation between all social sectors on human-centered smart cities.
