TEHRAN – The first international conference on social entrepreneurship, regional development and social justice was held at Tehran University on Saturday.
According to Mair’s report, the conference was attended by more than 350 entrepreneurs and foreign ambassadors from the social, economic and scientific fields.
Fundamentals of social entrepreneurship and social value creation. Sustainable solutions to social challenges. A new model for sustainable social business development. Inclusive innovation for social justice. Leadership and management in social enterprises. Measuring social impact. Building an ecosystem through networks and institutions. and social innovation through localization were the main themes of the conference.
Social entrepreneurship as an innovative approach creates both social and economic value by leveraging sustainable business models and providing solutions to complex social challenges.
This form of entrepreneurship, which relies on social capital such as networks, knowledge, and trust, empowers marginalized communities, reduces inequality, and strengthens local economies.
Through the design of hybrid models such as rural cooperatives and small enterprises, social entrepreneurs not only contribute to local development but also promote social justice by including marginalized groups such as women and minorities.
However, achieving this convergence comes with challenges such as financial sustainability, mission alignment, and management complexity.
The conference aimed to bring together researchers, policy makers and entrepreneurs to exchange knowledge, propose practical solutions and strengthen cross-sector collaboration to overcome these challenges and promote sustainable models.
The event was organized by Tehran University’s Faculty of Entrepreneurship in collaboration with the Majlis (Iranian Parliament) Research Center.
