TEHRAN – A spokesman for Iranian government added that indirect negotiations with the US have shown positive results up to now, and that Tehran remains open to initiatives that will help lift sanctions and secure the rights of Iranian people.
Fateme Mojahelini spoke with Iranian news agency IRNA on Sunday to discuss the ongoing second round of indirect talks between Iran and the United States in Rome, Italy.
She emphasized that negotiations are under the mission of the Foreign Office, and that the government will not distract foreign policy from its core priorities.
“These consultations mediated by Oman are happening in a constructive environment,” Mojahelini said. “The goal is to explore practical steps to alleviate tensions and set future stages of technical discussion.”
Mojarani also reiterated that the 14th government focuses on the key responsibilities of the entire economic, social, cultural and administrative sector with foreign policy, including negotiations, and is merely part of the broader national agenda pursued by relevant authorities.
When asked about the government’s expectations for indirect consultations, Mojarani replied: “As stated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, negotiations have been positive so far. But as the leaders of the Islamic Revolution have said, we are neither overly optimistic nor pessimistic.”
She reaffirmed her principled approach to foreign policy by saying, “The Islamic Republic of Iran has always acted in line with the people and dignity of its people, guided by the principles of wisdom and convenience. We welcome initiatives that secure the rights of the people of Iran.”
Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Aragci also considered negotiations on the post on the X platform, explaining that the Roman atmosphere is relatively positive and contributes to the advancement of important issues.
“Many of Iran feel that the JCPOA is no longer meeting our needs,” writes Araghchi. “For them, all that remains is the ‘lects’ learned from the transaction. I personally share this view. ”
Araghchi said, “An expert-level discussion will soon begin to look into the details. Then we will be in a better position to assess the situation. For now, optimism may be justified, but be very careful.”
