TEHRAN – The latest mural from Variasur Square in central Tehran was released Tuesday morning, depicting Iranian provincial television host Sahar Emami following the Iranian Broadcasting (IRIB) attack on the mainland of the Islamic Republic on Monday night.
The phrase in the mural is a poem from Feldoushi’s Shahname (The King’s Book) related to the story of Rostam and Sorab. “He was surprised by the Iranian army / Such a girl came to the battlefield,” reported Mehr.
In this verse, Sorab is surprised to see Goldafarid in a battle dress that came from the Iranian army to the battlefield.
Goldafarid is one of Ferdusi’s Shaname, considered a symbol of courage. She was a champion who fought Sorab (another Iranian hero who was commander of the Turanian army).
“I can hear the attackers attack the truth,” Sahar Emami said of the moment before the Israeli bomb landed in the studio where she lived.
She returned to live broadcasts elsewhere a few minutes later, vowing to continue her job as a journalist as long as she is alive. “When I die, others will reveal your crime to the world in my place,” she said, maintaining a calm attitude, looking directly at the camera.
Emami said that the voice of truth would not be silent. “With the help of the Almighty God and the measures of the Supreme Leader and High Officers, we will continue our work.”
“In this attack, news buildings were not targeted, freedom of expression and voices of women and children were targeted,” she added.
Irib’s political aide Hassan Abedini was also broadcast, saying, “Shocking journalists are shooting people who tell the truth and the truth. How can the international community and the media justify this situation?!
Despite the explosion, Emami’s return to the airwaves sent a strong message that Iranian voice and its revolution would not be silent by military attacks.
Her immorality has been praised more widely than Iranian society, and social media is filled with messages of praise, portraying her as a true symbol of dedication and national pride.
The incident reinforces a sense of unity and rebellion among Iranians, highlighting Emami as a symbol of strength, courage and resilience in the face of external threats.
IRIB owns the largest news outlet in the country. It has actively covered Israeli attacks on civilians and civil infrastructure.
The intentional targeting of journalists and media infrastructure constitutes war crimes under international law. The Geneva Convention and the Roman law of the International Criminal Court explicitly protect civilians, including journalists working in conflict zones, from direct attacks.
Israel has a long history of targeting journalists and media outlets across the region. In the ongoing war in Gaza, the regime intentionally killed more than 170 Palestinian journalists, killed refugee tents, some in cars on duty and along with the whole family on one strike.
