A spokesman for Iran’s foreign ministry has expressed deep concern about the ongoing military conflict in Libyan capital Tripoli, causing dozens of casualties.
Ismaeil Baghaei, a spokesman for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stressed the responsibility of all parties to restore stability and called for an immediate halt of violence and bloodshed.
Expressing sadness to the victims’ families and those injured in the conflict, Bakaei urged them to prioritize the interests of the Libyan people, engage in dialogue to resolve the conflict, and to prevent destructive foreign intervention in Libyan issues.
Media have reported intense clashes between the two rival groups, sparked by the killing of a major militia leader on Monday.
The United Nations Libya Mission (UNSMIL) issued deep alarms about escalating violence in densely populated regions, denounced the rapid escalation of violence in Tripoli and the mobilization of troops in other parts of the country.
In a statement on X, Unsmil highlighted the need to establish “a safe corridor for the evacuation of civilians trapped in intense conflict zones,” calling for an urgent and immediate ceasefire.
