TEHRAN – The Tehran Symphony Orchestra, under the baton of Maestro Nasir Haydarian, performed the “Falak ol Afrac” Symphony Orchestra centuries ago at Fortress of Fark ol Afrac in Koramabad on Thursday night, captivating an audience of 2,000 attendees in the western part of Lorlestan.
The event was attended by cultural and artistic officials from Tehran and the state authorities, and marked the National Day of Lorestan, Mehr reported on Saturday.
Notable guests attended include Iran’s vice-chairman for the Arts, Ministry of Culture and Islamic leader Nadere Rezai, Governor Seyed Said Sharoki, Lorestan Governor Sayed Sayed Sharoki, head of the Transport Infrastructure Development Company, Fountion Foundation of the Househang Bazvand Rezaei, and Khorramabad Mayor Daryoush Barani Beiranvand.
The orchestra performed in collaboration with the Rudaki Foundation, the Lorestan Cultural and Islamic Leadership Bureau, and the Municipalities of Khoramabad, highlighting the region’s rich cultural heritage.
Orchestra performed on this special occasion in accordance with a memorandum signed by the Rudaki Foundation, the Department of Culture in Laurestan, and the City of Holamabad.
The Iranian national anthem opened a concert as a prelude to the Farak or Aflak Symphony Orchestra, a four-moving work written by composer Cambis Roshan Lavan, as a musical portrayal of eight years of the Iranian and Iraq war.
The second part of the program featured a vocal performance in Persian and Loli dialects, entitled “Zendegi” (“Life”), performed by Fazel Jamsidi and Heshmatra Jabbazadeh. This traditional loli song was previously recorded by Reza Sakai and later arranged by Abdulbahab Shahidi with Faramartz Paver for the Tehran Symphony Orchestra, and was performed live at the fortress, showing off the local musical heritage.
At the end of the performance, Maestro Heidarian spoke to the audience with sincere words. “For many years, cultural authorities have been working to improve orchestras and create optimal conditions for musicians.
“I hope that, apart from all of these talented musicians being educated in our country, the supportive presence of the cultural authorities and the Rudaki Foundation will continue to improve each day, and one day we will witness a dedicated symphony orchestra here in Laurestan.”
Additionally, as part of an ongoing cultural initiative, the Tehran Symphony Orchestra will again perform the “Farquar A Flak” Symphony Orchestra under the baton of the Maestro Hydarian at the Vadat Hall in Tehran on Sunday night.
Perched above Horamabad in western Iran, Farak ol Aflak fortress controls the skyline with eight sturdy towers. Beyond military origins, the site is a symbol of Iran’s rich cultural, historical and natural heritage.
The surrounding area is dotted with ancient caves, picturesque Khloramabad Valley, historic bridges and rivers flowing through the city centre. As the night goes down, strategic lighting transforms the fortress into a stunning landmark.
