Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeir Bagaei made his remarks on Wednesday following the administration’s airstrikes on Sanaa International Airport in Yemen’s capital.
The official condemned the attack as a further example of the regime’s wild barrage and continued hostility towards Yemeni Muslim people and the wider region.
Baghaei emphasized that the strikes that took place during the Hajj pilgrimage season constituted a major crime, aiming to prevent Yemeni pilgrims from traveling to the sacred cities of Mecca to carry out religious rituals.
He called on international organizations, particularly the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) to deal with the situation urgently.
“The actions of the Israeli regime, namely the targeting of essential civil infrastructure, such as airports and food storage, constitute clear war crimes and crimes against humanity,” the officials argued.
Bagaei further explained that the attack on Yemen was part of a broader pattern of hostility towards Muslim countries in the Western Asia region, showing an “inherent alienation” of the regime from the local population and showing attempts to spread instability and conflict regionally and globally.
He emphasized that the administration’s immunity, supported by the UN Security Council’s inaction and US support, had served as destabilizing factors that negatively affect the international order and pose an unprecedented threat to world peace and security.
Responding to the attack earlier that day, Yemeni top officials warned that the administration would face a “hot summer.”
Mahdi Al-Mashat had pointed to the prospect that Yemeni military was already escalating large-scale anti-Israel businesses.
The chairman of Yemen’s Supreme Political Council stressed that Tel Aviv’s atrocities only strengthened Sanaa’s resolve to continue anti-Israel operations.
Yemeni military personnel have taken many such strikes since October 2023 in response to Israel’s genocide war against the Gaza Strip.
Previously, Lebanon’s Hezbollah Resistance movement condemned Israel’s invasion of Yemen.
In a statement, the movement emphasized that such airstrikes were possible in violation of international law and fully sponsored the silence of the US and the international community.
