TEHRAN – The open threat of Iranian US President Donald Trump is a “humiliation” of global peace and security, Iran’s foreign ministry warned on Monday.
“The public threat of a head of state “bombing” against Iran is shocking to the essence of international peace and security,” Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei wrote in a post on X.
On Saturday, Trump said Iran would be bombed if he didn’t make a nuclear deal with the US.
“If they don’t make a deal, there will be bombing,” he said in an interview with NBC News. He also threatened to punish Iran for what he called “secondary tariffs.”
Baghaei said such threats violate the betrayal of safety measures under the UN Charter and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
Trump’s approach to Iran is full of contradictions.
A spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, “Violence breeds violence, peace creates peace. The United States can choose a course…; and acknowledge the outcome.”
