Speaking to television nationwide in a telephone interview Wednesday evening, Gallibabadi said Wednesday’s visit to Iran was made solely to monitor the refueling process at Buscher power plant in the south.
He stressed that the return of IAEA inspectors would not violate the law approved by Iranian parliament after the US attack on three major nuclear facilities in June. The law called for Tehran to suspend cooperation with the agency after condemning false reports of invasions by the US and Israeli regimes of Iranian sites.
He noted that parliamentary laws are still in place and that Iranian diplomats do not cross the red line it sets.
The Deputy Minister also warned three European forces, the UK, France and Germany, that activating mechanisms against Iran would likely affect ongoing consultations with the IAEA and not relying on snapback mechanisms.
