Tehran – The 23rd Tehran auction entitled “Modern and Modern Iranian Art” took place on Thursday at the Persian Azadi Hotel in Tehran, delivering 1.75 trillion rials (approximately $2.2 million).
The auction featured 100 works by 97 artists, including paintings, calligraphy paintings, sculptures and photography.
Media collectors, buyers and members participated in the 23rd Tehran auction. Of the total 100 items presented, 97 pieces were sold.
Unlike previous editions featuring established figures such as Sohrab Sepehri and Bahman Mohasses, this edition focuses on contemporary Iranian art, and works by young and emerging artists were also well received by collectors.
The best sale of the event was sold in a painting by Hossein Zenderoudi by “Andam” (Body) ($178,750). Following on, it is an untitled work by Masoud Arabshahi, which sold for 116.6 billion rials ($145,750), and is the second-highest sales.
The sculpture “The Hidden Side” by young artist Sahand Hesamian sold for 100 billion rials ($126,500) and secured third place. Monir Farmanfarmaian’s “Mirror Ball” won 79.2 billion rials ($99,000), while Kourosh Shishegaran’s untitled work sold for 74.8 billion rials ($935,000), ranked fourth and fifth respectively.
The 23rd Tehran auction also includes works by well-known artists such as Alileza Astane, Aidin Agdashru, Mohammad Ehasai, Shirin Ettehadiy, Farah Evolgasem, Naslora Afehei, Nasser Obisi, Sadega Tanavakm Tanavakhz Anavakha Anavakha Masui, Nasser Afehei, and Pariviz Tanavak. Chalipa, Kambiz Derambakhsh, Hassan Rouholamine, Mahmoud Zenderoudi, Ahmadreza Ahmadi, Gizella Varga Sinai, Jalal Shabahangi, Masoud Arabshai, Mansour Ghandriz, Parviz Kalantari, Reza Kianian, Merkon, Merkon, Mankon, Mankon, Mankonian Yektai, Arman Yaghoubpour. The works on display were on display at the Percian Azadi Hotel on May 20th and 21st prior to the auction.
The first terren auction of this kind in Iran was launched in 2012 as an independent private initiative, ranging from Iranian artists to best Iranian artists to art collectors and global audiences.
It aims to address the growing interest in contemporary and contemporary Iranian art and promote the acquisition of quality works in a reliable way.
