Tehran – The 36th Tehran International Book Fair (TIBF) is scheduled to be held at Imam Khomeini Mosala in Tehran from May 7th to 17th.
Following an assessment of expert reports on the fair’s potential venue, the 36th TIBF Policy Council selected Imam Khomeini Mosala as the venue for the prestigious event, and Isna cited Ebrahim Heidari as saying on Tuesday.
He emphasized that the book’s fair is recognized as a national heritage and event, not only cheering and enriching the country’s culture, but also attracting the attention of cultural figures and book lovers around the world.
So, he added, it is the duty of the cultural institutions and all collaborative organisations to ensure that the event is carried out in a way that is commendable and appropriate.
Heydari also revealed that the slogan “Read Iran” was chosen for this edition of the book fair.
He explained that the appeal for the proposed slogan was released in February, with around 1,500 proposals being announced. These proposals were carefully reviewed by experts and then presented to the Policy Council. This ultimately chose “Read Iran” as the official slogan for upcoming events.
The cultural event has become an important book fair in West Asia landmarks for 35 consecutive editions. Millions of visitors inspect the fair each year, including thousands of university students, academics and their families.
The event now serves as Iran’s most important cultural event. On an average, 2,500 domestic publishers and 600 foreign publishers take part in the landmark event. Foreign publishers essentially provide material in English or Arabic, but titles in French, German, Chinese, Korean or Japanese are also available.
