TEHRAN – As around 60,000 Chinese tourists travel to Iran each year, the Chinese ambassador for Tehran said on Tuesday that he highlighted efforts to expand cultural and scientific exchanges between the two countries.
During his visit to Mazandaran University, Ambassador Zhong Peiwu said tourism is a valuable opportunity to strengthen bilateral relations, according to the para-specialist Mehr news agency.
“The exchange of professors and students, collaboration in artificial intelligence, and support for knowledge-based companies are key pillars to advance scientific partnerships with Iranian universities,” Zhong said.
He added that the Chinese embassy in Tehran was working to simplify the issuance of visas to encourage students and tourists to exchange people and expand cooperation.
Zhong also mentioned China’s Persian Language Education Program and the Chinese course at Mazandaran University. “Promoting language and cultural education in both countries will help strengthen our relationship,” he said.
In 2019, Tehran waived visa requirements for Chinese citizens in order to attract more tourists.
