TEHRAN – Mayor of Shandis city in Khorasan Razabi province said the old plane tree on Motahari Street in Shandis has been registered with the National Registered Council of Iran’s Natural Heritage.
According to Mehr’s news agency, Seyyed Ahmad Baqeri pointed out that the tree is known as the Airplane (AS) Mosque at Imam Hossein (AS) Mosque, as it is next to the mosque. He added that he is between 475 and 525 years old. It enjoys great value and respect among local people, especially the elders, he pointed out.
He continued that one of the preliminary goals of identifying and registering this ancient tree nationwide was a legal obligation to provide a conservation programme to maintain natural heritage and ensure the continued survival and permanence of these precious natural artifacts.
However, he said that enforcement of protection regulations on the line, which preserves valuable trees, is extremely important.
In addition to this tree, several other ancient cosmic trees in Shandis are included in conservation and maintenance programs, considered a large part of the region’s precious natural heritage, and registration and preservation are found in the urban agenda.
Bakeri added that when these trees are organized, they can play an important role in attracting ecotourists.
Surrounded by picturesque mountains, Chandis is famous for its cool climate and lush greenery, making it the perfect retreat during the summer.
Visitors can east local delights at traditional restaurants and take a leisurely stroll in the natural embrace.
