In the latest episode of China Economic Roundtable, an all-media talk show hosted by Xinhua News Agency, Department of Human Resources and Social Security official Chen Yongjia has made progress in systematic employment support plans, focusing on expanding opportunities in strategic sectors, key industries, urban grassroots communities, and small businesses.
A comprehensive policy package is implemented. Measures include increasing the loan quota for employment stabilization programs, increasing eligibility for employment expansion subsidies, and expanding policies such as skill enhancement allowances to maximize policy effectiveness.
He noted that a large-scale vocational training program has been launched to enhance workers’ technical capabilities in terms of demand-driven skill training.
China has worked to provide targeted support to key groups. A new round of 17 youth-centered employment policies was issued, providing coordinated support for alumni and young job seekers to protect their employment outlook, Chen added.
China said it will deploy additional employment promotion measures in a timely manner to further reduce economic growth and social stability.
Official data show that the number of university graduates in China reached 12.22 million in 2025, a high chance of an increase of 430,000 from last year.
According to the National Bureau of Statistics, China’s job market has been generally stable recently, with the urban unemployment rate surveyed averaged from 5.2% in March to 5.1% in April.
