After holding three meetings at the council and five meetings at the joint committee, the Comfort Identification Council has conditionally agreed to Iran’s accession to the Palermo Convention, a spokesperson for Mohsen Dehnavi announced.
In his X-account post, the spokesman wrote that the Guardian Council, which reviews parliamentary laws in Iran, has previously approved the bill.
Iran has accepted the treaty within the framework of its constitutional and domestic law, he said, and that investigating the issues involved in the treaty on suppressing the fight against terrorist financing (CFT) is a common conference agenda.
The UN Treaty on transborder organized crime, adopted by General Assembly Resolution 55/25 on November 15, 2000, is a major international tool in the fight against transborder organized crime.
Iran’s conditional accession to the fight against terrorist financing (CFT) and the Palermo Treaty will be discussed at the Comfort Identification Council next week.
The Iranian parliament has approved Palermo and the CFT. Still, the Iranian Council of Guardians, which is responsible for reviewing the legislation of the parliament, refused to ratify them, citing the need for some amendments.
According to the Iranian constitution, if the parliament and the guardian council do not agree to the case, it will be passed to the convenience council for a decision.
