Hamas’ statement was in response to Itamar Ben Gvir, who led illegal settlers to attack the compound of Al-Aqsa Mosque in eastern Quds under police protection.
According to the Tehran-based Palestinian Information Center, the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas announced in a statement that today marks the 35th anniversary of the first Al-Aqsa Mosque massacre on October 8, 1990.Israel’s Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir with the presence of the colonial group said in a statement.
Hamas described the act as deliberate and provocative, saying it reflected the fascist mindset of the occupation regime’s cabinet. The action was aimed at desecrating holy sites and was a blatant insult to the feelings of Muslims around the world, the Hamas statement added.
The statement said the attack was not a single incident, but instead an aggressive message aimed at justifying the division of the site and imposing Israeli control over Al-Aqsa. Hamas added that the move is part of a comprehensive plot aimed at Judaizing the QUD and eliminating the city’s Arab and Islamic identity.
Hamas stressed that the Quds and Al-Aqsa mosques are a red line for Palestinians, adding that continued violations will never change the reality that mosques are Islamic holiest sites.
The Palestinian resistance movement in the Quds, West Bank, and territories occupied by Palestinians in 1948 maintained a constant presence in the mosque and observed I’tikaf (spiritual isolation) in the courtyard to protect it.
Hamas also urged Arab and Islamic states and international organizations to respond with political, legal and moral commitments to end Israel’s continued attacks and violations.
