According to Press TV, Pezeshkian spoke at a meeting with artists and craftsmen in southeastern Tehran on Thursday, emphasizing that enemy conspiracy against the Iranian people would not lead anywhere.
“As long as there are national assets of experts, elites, producers, industrialists and artists, we don’t worry about oil sanctions,” he emphasized, referring to the abilities of Iranian scientists, experts, artists and producers.
“We face problems when we lose assets. Countries that rely on their material resources will ultimately face doom. Therefore, we need to focus on human capital, producers, artists, traders and scientists. If we don’t support them and interfere with their activities, threats and sanctions will not be effective,” Pezeschkian further emphasized.
The Iranian president also said the US has been putting pressure on Iran since “we are dependent on oil and gas.”
“As long as we rely on resources under our feet, we will be in trouble if those resources are taken away or sold blocked. But if we create and produce art, we have no power to stop us,” Pezeschkian said. He emphasized that the government is committed to giving artists unconditional support and providing a platform for their work.
The Iranian president emphasized human innovation capabilities, saying, “If we believe that our hands, intelligence and abilities can solve problems, then power cannot put us on our knees.”
“We are sitting in the treasures of Iran. This land is full of treasures. It is not worthy of us to be in the state we are in. To overcome these conditions, we need fresh prospects, unity and new support. We must imagine new possibilities for ourselves. In this way, we can live with dignity and pride,” Pezeschkian added.
Tensions between Iran and the US have been significantly exacerbated as the unilateral withdrawal from a nuclear deal known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) in 2018.
Reaching in 2015, the JCPOA requested Iran to implement confidence-building measures to limit nuclear activities in exchange for sanctions relief.
After its withdrawal, the Trump administration launched a “maximum pressure” campaign aimed at crippling Iran’s economy through serious sanctions targeting oil exports, the banking sector and other important industries.
American officials have openly acknowledged that the policy was designed to weaken Iran economically and politically.
