Dr. Ismail Al-Thawabta, head of the Gaza Government Intelligence Bureau, said the humanitarian situation on the territory is getting worse every day.
He noted that the UN officially declared starvation in Gaza two weeks ago, but that no meaningful action has been taken to end the catastrophe.
Speaking to Al Jazeera, Al Tawabuta said the international community has issued only statements and symbolic gestures, and there is no real pressure to lift the blockade on the occupying parties, open crossroads and allow humanitarian assistance to Gaza.
He emphasized that hunger covers not only Gaza city but everything in Gaza, as Israel is escalating its hunger and evacuation campaign.
Al-Tawabuta said Israel has placed serious restrictions on aid, reaching only 14% of the population needs.
He describes the situation as catastrophic, with hundreds of thousands facing extreme hunger.
“This is not a temporary crisis, but a direct result of the siege and systematic genocide by the occupying people under the thwarted blockage of full American support, markets, infrastructure and humanitarian aid,” he said.
