Tehran – A collection of 12 volumes entitled “The History of Colonization” was released in Kuala Lumpur on Friday in three languages, coinciding with the Malaysian International Book Fair.
The unveiling ceremony of Mehdi Mirkai’s translated edition of “The History of Colonization” took place at Iranian Cultural Attack Office in Kuala Lumpur, with many Iranian and Malaysian cultural officials and publishing representatives attending on Saturday.
Reports were added to the ceremony, among others, including Malaysia’s Iranian ambassador Variola Mohammadi, Malaysia’s Iranian Cultural Attache, Hossein Barami and Nakul e Subs Publishing Company.
In his speech, Arzani emphasized the importance of understanding colonization and its historical evolution. He pointed out how the face of colonialism has changed in modern times, and influenced new realms such as cyberspace. “It is important that colonialism flaunts new faces every day, and recognizes colonization and its history, and this collection takes a big step in that direction,” he said.
“The announcement of the “History of Colonization” collection is an effective step towards introducing Iran’s independent narratives of colonial history and cultural resistance on the international stage,” he added.
“It provides a clear perspective rooted in the historical experiences of oppressed countries,” he said.
He further emphasized the importance of speaking history not from the perspective of a settler, but from the voices of countries that suffered under colonial rule. “The collection aims to restore the story to legitimate owners, those who have experienced colonization, and to a generation that must recognize its historical reality.”
On his part, Barami provided insight into the translation process and focused on the scope of the original collection. “The complete collection consists of 15 volumes, but due to cultural and content considerations, only 12 volumes have been translated so far. These translations are available in three languages: English, Arabic and Bahasa Malaysia.”
Bahrami emphasized that the collection offers documentaries, stories and educational accounts suitable for adolescent readers. “Volume 15 “The History of Colonization” is a research-based, storytelling-oriented work designed in a simple, fascinating language for young audiences. ”
He added that it examines the emergence and expansion of colonialism from the 15th to the 20th century, providing a critical and de facto overview of development over various regions and periods.
He concluded that each volume focuses on a particular area or ERA, and aims to present a genuine and understandable picture of the harsh reality of colonization.
“The History of Colonization” is a compelling collection of 15 volumes that appeals to history lovers, especially those interested in solving the dark and complex stories of colonialism.
The series stands out as an inclusive yet accessible resource that effectively combines de facto accuracy with engaging storytelling. Its concise and vivid narrative approach makes it suitable for a wide range of audiences, including younger readers and those seeking a quick overview of colonial history from the 15th century onwards.
The collection’s ability to present complex historical developments through highly relevant anecdotes and well-built content underscores its importance as an educational tool. It also represents an important contribution to understanding the historical narratives of colonization and resistance, resonating with readers of diverse age groups and backgrounds.
