The request came in a telephone conversation between Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Aragci and IAEA Director Rafael Grossi on Tuesday.
Araguchi explained to Grossi about the latest diplomatic development surrounding Iran’s peaceful nuclear program and reiterated Iran’s commitment to cooperation with the UN nuclear watchdog.
The Foreign Minister emphasized that government agencies must adopt a transparent stance regarding the ongoing threat to Iran’s nuclear sites, Presstv reported.
Trump threatened that if Tehran refused to make a new deal with Washington, he could order a military strike against Iran’s nuclear infrastructure.
During his first term in office, Trump withdrew the US from previous agreements on Iran’s nuclear program and launched the biggest pressure campaign against the country.
Trump recovered that policy after returning to the White House for a second term in January, but he has shown an appetite for a new deal to replace the 2015 deal, officially referred to as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
