Iran has agreed to allow the UN Nuclear Watchdog Technical Team to visit in the coming weeks and discuss the “new modalities” regarding the International Atomic Energy Agency’s relationship with Tehran.
“The delegation doesn’t come to Iran and go to the (nuclear) site, but to discuss modalities,” he told reporters during his visit to New York.
An Iranian diplomat told reporters it is important to discuss with the agency how to respond to commitments under new circumstances.
He emphasized maintaining Iran’s right to enrichment of uranium, and said that on the issue of enrichment, Iran would enrich uranium based on its needs. He also emphasized that Iran must have the ability to do everything that it needs to do.
He warned three European participants about a 2015 nuclear deal with Iran, known as the JCPOA. He warned that Iran could withdraw the Non-Diffusion Treaty (NPT) in response to the activation of the snapback mechanism.
