Ayatollah Seiyed Ali Khamenei, the leader of the Islamic Revolution, chose “Investing for Production” as the Persian New Year’s slogan in the annual Knowles Message.
Every year, the arrival of Knowles, the leader of the Islamic Revolution, sets a slogan to determine the general direction of the country’s policies. These slogans are usually deeply rooted in the economic and social challenges of the country, and their goal is to guide plans and policy decisions to solve the problem. This year, on the eve of 1404 (starting on March 21, 2025), the slogan “Investment for Production” was chosen by the leaders of the Islamic Revolution.
Therefore, President Masoud Pezeshkian said his administration plans to strengthen engagement with the private sector to promote investment in production as part of its efforts to implement the national economic agenda for the year.
President Pezeschkian said extensive discussions have been held about investment strategies and existing challenges to ensure effective policy implementation.
Mohamadreza’s First Vice President and the government’s economic team also held another session to integrate the plans.
Pezeshkian added that the goal is to “find practical ways to implement leadership directions on this year’s economic theme of investing in production.”
The president emphasized that his administration has significantly increased engagement with the private sector.
“I personally addressed my concerns by attending professional-level meetings with entrepreneurs and business representatives. This year I will continue to strengthen these interactions and work to eliminate obstacles that hinder private sector activities,” he said.
It should be noted that investment is one of the most fundamental drivers of economic growth in any country. Without investment, production will not flourish. There is no employment. No infrastructure has been developed and the country’s economy continues to stagnate.
In recent years, statistics show that not only has the rate of investment in Iran has declined, but even the actual growth of investments, which are net investments after depreciation of existing capital, are negative over the years. This means that not only does new capital not enter the economic cycle, but its previous investments are also eroded. Due to these conditions, national production faces many problems, with many production units operating at low capacity or completely closed. This is precisely why the revolutionary leaders focused on their slogans on investing in production this fiscal year, as the Iranian economy cannot safely overcome the current crisis without solving this problem.
However, efforts to achieve this slogan’s goals are not merely a government obligation. Investing in production is a national issue and all responsible institutions, organizations, the private sector, and even the people, must play their role in this direction. The banking system must direct its resources towards production, Congress and related organizations must amend restrictive laws, security and judicial institutions must support investors, and the citizens themselves must pave the way for growth in production by supporting domestic production. If all these sectors are doing their duties in the best possible way, investment in the country will flourish and national production will be strengthened.
Investing in production is not just a slogan, but a need to overcome the country’s economic and social crises. Success on this path requires national resolve and is not limited to government. All executives, legislative and support agencies, and even people, must use their capabilities to achieve this goal. Without investment, production will not increase. Unemployment rates will rise, social security will be challenged, and the country’s economy will remain on a cycle of stagnation. This slogan choice by the leaders of the Islamic Revolution is awakening call for policymakers to pay attention to the importance of this issue and guide the nation’s path to prosperity in investment and production.
