TEHRAN – Iran has the right to peaceful nuclear energy and acts in line with international law, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Friday.
Peskov said he had accepted Iran’s statement that Moscow had no intention of obtaining nuclear weapons.
Iran was one of the long-standing topics debated between President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin this week, and the White House later said the two leaders “shared the view that Iran should not be in a position to destroy Israel.”
Iran said Thursday that considering the opportunities and threats of letters from Donald Trump, it would promptly respond, urging them to reach a new nuclear deal.
At a New Year’s meeting with staff and people on Friday, Islamic Revolution leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei warned that the US would never “unsurmount the threat” to Iran.
The leader also said that Americans must know that if they commit malicious acts against Iran, they will “receive a slapping in the face.”
