Tehran – Iran praised the groundbreaking agreement between Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, and praised the official establishment of a junction point for shared boundaries.
The agreement was signed on Monday at a trilateral summit in the city of Tajik city in Kujand by Kyrgyz President Sadi Japarov, Tajik President Emomali Ramon and Uzbek President Shabkat Mirziyoyev.
In addition to the trilateral agreement, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan have signed another agreement addressing their bilateral borders. The Uzbekistan presidency is described as a move to strengthen stability, sustainable development and increase the international status of the region.
In a statement issued on Friday, Esmaeir Bakaei Hamane, a spokesman for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, welcomed the agreement by calling it a “critical step in supporting territorial integrity and mutual respect for national sovereignty.”
Baqaei added that the deal will help promote trust and strengthen peace and stability across Central Asia.
He reaffirmed Iran’s longstanding position in supporting peaceful resolutions on border conflicts and efforts to strengthen regional unity. Baguey also expressed his hope that the agreement would pave the way for wider cooperation and deeper economic integration among Central Asian countries.
