Tehran – The Iranian documentary film “The Last of the Whale Shark,” directed by Ramtin Berev, has arrived at the 14th Cambodia International Film Festival (CIFF), which will be held in the Cambodia capital of Phnom Penh from March 21st to 30th.
The documentary film, produced by the Documentary, Experimental and Animation Film Center (DEFC), has been selected for the Documentary Competition section of the upcoming edition of CIFF, reported Mehr.
“The Last Whale Shark” is the story of the last surviving whale shark in the Persian Gulf, a quest to find a sea companion contaminated by artificial toxins.
The 76-minute film, made in 2024, is rooted in the numerous accidents and tragedy caused by our generation to the marine environment, demonstrating how this environmental destruction affects this last whale quest for love for sharks.
The documentary won Best Music and Best Cinema Cinema Award at Cinema Verite, the 17th Iranian International Documentary Film Festival.
The Cambodia International Film Festival is the most important and industry-led film event in the Kingdom of Cambodia.
Each year, CIFF features a diverse programme and hosts filmmakers from Cambodia and abroad. It focuses on inspiring audiences with the diversity of films, promotes innovative international filmmaking, such as fiction and documentaries, and presents recent high-quality productions made in Cambodia by national and international filmmakers.
This year, CIFF will bring over 150 events and film screenings of films made from Cambodia and around the world (over 40 countries).
